Fiesta De Colores 2025: L.A. Cetto Celebrates 1,005 Medals

L.A. Cetto marks its 97th Fiesta de Colores, reaffirming its leadership in Mexican winemaking

Valle de Guadalupe, B.C. — On August 9, 2025, the iconic L.A. Cetto winery celebrated the 97th edition of its traditional Fiesta de Colores, one of Baja California’s most anticipated wine tourism events of the year. This milestone comes just three years shy of the winery’s centennial, underscoring its enduring legacy in Mexico’s wine industry.

A program rich in tradition and celebration

From 12:30 p.m., the Valle de Guadalupe was filled with aromas, flavors, and music. The day began with a Thanksgiving Mass and the blessing of the first harvest, followed by a tasting cocktail featuring 37 wine labels paired with canapés, guided by expert sommeliers.

A contest that brought laughter

One of the most entertaining moments of the Fiesta de Colores was the traditional Grape Stomping Contest, which sparked laughter, photos, and videos among guests—paying homage to the artisanal methods that shaped the region’s winemaking traditions.

Gastronomy and music for all the senses

The evening featured a four-course menu created by chef David Salgado, designed to highlight the notes and aromas of L.A. Cetto’s wines:

First course: Scallop with kimchi-style fermented cabbage and roasted artichoke hummus.
Second course: Strudel stuffed with a mix of mushrooms and wild fungi in truffle sauce.
Third course: Beef filet in foie gras sauce.
Fourth course (choice of two): Orange panna cotta with yuzu, or crème brûlée corn tartlet with mascarpone gelato.

As the sun set, music took center stage. In keeping with tradition, the Fiesta featured a surprise headliner—this year, singer Reyli Barba closed the event with hits like El Abandonado, Sabor a Chocolate, La Virgen, Desde Que Llegaste, and Así es la Vida, igniting the crowd at the bullring. The celebration continued with a DJ-led afterparty that lasted well into the early morning.

Awards and international recognition

2025 was a landmark year for L.A. Cetto. The winery surpassed 1,000 international medals—reaching a total of 1,005—making it the first in Mexico to achieve this feat at world-renowned competitions.

For the fifth consecutive time, it was named Winery of the Year at the New York International Competition, adding to its 15 total distinctions of this kind.

In the media sphere, L.A. Cetto was featured in National Geographic Creative Works’ mini-documentary Agricultores de Corazón, portraying seven generations of family dedication and the essence of Baja California winemaking.

Innovation and sustainability

In a surprise announcement, CEO Luis Alberto Cetto unveiled the winery’s new line of organic wines. Aligning with its environmental commitment, L.A. Cetto celebrated the certification of 76 hectares of organic vineyards and the implementation of a CO₂ capture system—cementing its role as a pioneer in sustainable practices in Mexico.
