From March 19 to 23, 2025, San Diego will once again become the heart of Latin culture with the 32nd edition of the San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF). Under the theme “Cinema Without Borders,” this festival continues its three-decade tradition of bringing communities together, celebrating Latin heritage, and inspiring audiences through the power of film.
What’s in Store for SDLFF 2025?
This year’s festival will showcase more than 100 films exploring themes of identity, family, history, and the evolving Latino experience, including dramas, comedies, documentaries, and animated features.
Featured Events and Special Tributes
- The U.S. premiere of Querido Trópico, starring Paulina García.
- A special screening of I Am Raquel Welch, a documentary honoring the life and legacy of the iconic actress.
- A restored version of El Norte, a powerful migration story, followed by a Q&A session with director Gregory Nava and activist Dolores Huerta, discussing social justice and civil rights.
Beyond Film: A Celebration of Latin Culture

- Broken Borders – A film by Tijuana filmmaker Rodrigo Álvarez Flores.
- Surgencia – A documentary exploring Baja California’s wine and food scene.
- Short films such as The Afro Mexpats, Kumeyaay Land, and Luz de Sol.
