Artists from 13 countries will gather to explore gender, culture, and migration through mosaic art at CEART Playas de Rosarito, offering free workshops and public talks.

The State Center for the Arts (CEART) Playas de Rosarito is set to host the 2nd International Mosaic Symposium in Baja California, a global event taking place June 2–13, 2025. Centered around the theme “Gender, Culture, and Migration,” the symposium aims to showcase mosaic as a dynamic and evolving contemporary art form, while creating space for social dialogue through artistic expression.

At the press conference held on May 26, organizers and officials emphasized the importance of the symposium in strengthening the region’s cultural development. Marco A. Nuño, coordinator of CEART Playas de Rosarito, noted that for nearly two weeks the venue will become a creative hub for both artists and the public. The event is co-organized with Casa Valencia Mosaico and will be led artistically by Giulio Menossi (Italy) and Aída Valencia (Mexico).

Thirteen international artists from countries including England, Italy, the United States, Australia, Turkey, Brazil, Russia, Argentina, Mexico, Canada, and Japan will participate. Each artist will create live mosaic pieces inspired by the symposium’s core themes, giving the public a chance to witness their creative process, hear their stories, and learn from their expertise. Entry is free and open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Visual Arts Room #1 at CEART.

Beyond mosaic creation, the program features open talks and conferences where artists will share their personal journeys, challenges, and achievements. These sessions will also encourage reflection on the role of mosaic art in regional development and its power to strengthen community bonds and transform public space.

The symposium will conclude with a final exhibition on June 14 at 4:00 p.m., showcasing the works produced during the event. Organizers invite the general public to attend and take part in this vibrant cultural exchange, which aims to elevate Baja California’s artistic identity and foster international collaboration.
